The Crimson Tide had a bad day, but I’m trying really hard to see a CFB final that doesn’t include both Alabama and Georgia …and I can’t.
College Football
Oklahoma 55, Texas 48—Still not impressed with the Sooners, and they do not win if Spencer Rattler stays in game. Casey Thompson looks like someone with a lengthy pro career as a backup. No insult intended.
Utah 42, USC 26—I keep hearing that if USC had the right HC all their talent would begin to show. Outside of Drake London, there’s very little next level talent at Troy.
Iowa 23, Penn State 20—The Nittany Lions lost this game when Sean Clifford got hurt. Season over if he’s out for any length of time.
Texas A&M 41, Alabama 38—We said the Crimson Tide was vulnerable…just can’t believe it happened at College Station.
TOP Four College Playoff Teams
(Strictly Based on Games I’ve seen)
1—Georgia (6-0): Right now, best team in the country. But I still don’t feel good about them at quarterback.
2—Alabama (5-1): Exposed big time by the Aggies. We’ll chalk it up to a bad night. They just can’t afford another one.
3—Cincinnati (5-0): Move up to number three because of Desmond Ridder. They have a clear edge over both Iowa and Georgia at quarterback.
4—Iowa (6-0): This is a good team with a mediocre quarterback. Hawkeyes will fall soon.
(Outside Looking In)
5—Penn State (5-1): It’s really a shame. With Clifford they’re playoff contender. Without him…they lose to a team with a mediocre quarterback.
6—Ohio State (5-1): Buckeyes keep trucking. They will be a playoff team before season ends.
7—Texas A&M (4-2): Humiliated by Arkansas, and then take down Goliath. Time to reassess our opinion of Zach Calzada.
8—Oklahoma (6-0): Tough, but they’ve been starting the wrong quarterback all year. Caleb Williams is an excellent college quarterback. Spencer Rattler looks good and fits the prospect suit…but I’ve seen enough.
9—Ole Miss (4-1): Thought they would beat the Razorbacks, just didn’t believe it would be by one point.
10—Arkansas (4-2): They are who we thought they were. Good, nothing more.
11—Oregon (4-1): Needed a bye this week, needs to crush Cal next week.
12—Notre Dame (5-1): I get that Drew Pyne believes in Notre Dame, but it’s clear Brian Kelly doesn’t believe in him. Jack Coan has hit the ceiling, Tyler Buchner is still in the parking lot.
13—Texas (4-2): Sooners saw Arkansas run all over the Longhorns and guess what they did? Great offense but a USCesque defense.
14—Auburn (4-2): Tiger fans have to remember that they’ve lost to Georgia and Penn State. Not the end of the world.
15—Florida (4-2): Nice bounce back, but still a weird team.
16—Utah (3-2): Need to beat Arizona State next week to be legit.
17—UCLA (4-2): Credit score for beating LSU diminishing by the week. If they lose in Seattle—Sayonara 2021.
18—Washington State (3-3): Only because they beat Oregon State.
19—Oregon State (4-2): I get it, Chance Nolan only looks like an NFL quarterbak against the Trojans
20—Nebraska (3-4): Played with Michigan, didn’t beat Michigan, the moral victory column is full.
21—Stanford (3-3): Lost to a good Sun Devils team, but the Cardinal is still drunk on Ducks victory.
22—Minnesota (3-2): Golden Gophers aren’t going anywhere, but still competing.
23—Wisconsin (2-3): I’m shaking in my boots…they beat Illinois.
24—LSU (3-3): Ed Orgeron has about two months to get his resume ready.
25—Purdue (3-2): Enjoy getting blasted in Iowa.
26—West Virginia (2-4): Mountaineer high-point was near win in Norman.
27—USC (3-3): New HC hired, London goes to the NFL, Kedon Slovis enters transfer portal…Jackson Dart becomes quarterback…and Trojans will be lucky to get five wins in 2022.
(Have not seen: Michigan, Michigan State, Arizona State, BYU, Wake Forrest, Kentucky)
