“Jared Goff is not that bad.”—Colin Cowherd

Kick it!

Happy with the Los Angeles Rams performance last night. As games and seasons go on, trust in Sean McVay and Les Snead continues to grow. But it doesn’t mean we can’t ask questions.

I know the Rams only allowed 14-points last night, but I felt it was way too passive. If that was part of the game-plan—great. But if that’s the philosophy of the defense moving forward, I don’t like it.

The Bears should not have run the ball so well…I understand the scheme…but it was soft. They cannot play that way against the better teams in the NFC.

I don’t like being that guy…but…I do love being that guy… I said 34-17, Rams….Final, 34-14, Rams.

Matthew Stafford was wonderful, and I think he made the offensive line look good. Stafford (a QB who makes snap decisions) versus Jared Goff (a QB who is indecisive) influences the perception of a good offensive line or a bad offensive line.

Stafford’s touchdown pass to Robert Woods—inside a chaotic pocket—would have been a sack a year ago.

Don’t worry about the running game. Because of the defense employed, the Bears ran 19 more plays and possessed the ball 11-minutes longer than the Rams did.

Last Add Running Game: It opened up in the fourth because of Stafford successfully going downfield. I love Darrell Henderson only carrying the ball 16-times. That’s plenty. If he can play all season and finish with 225 attempts, there will be no questions about the running game.

Last Add Offensive Line: I don’t like Brian Allen at center. Again, because it was Stafford—not Goff—Allen’s inabilities didn’t shine so bright.

I did say in Friday’s “From The RamCave” to keep an eye on Justin Hollins. Proud of that one.

I can’t imagine anything worse than being a receiver who catches the ball on a Dig-route and gets blasted—only to have it called back for holding. Just for the effort, give him a grab and a yard in the stat-book.

Note to Charger Fans: Learn what six other NFL fan bases already know…Jared Cook giveth, and Jared Cook taketh away.

Do Washington (the team formerly known as the Redskins) quarterbacks get hazard pay? Those guys get crushed more than Joe Biden after a presidential address.

Tag me old, but when I see #41 in a Washington uniform, my mind immediately goes to Mike Bass.

Last Add DC Football Team: Doesn’t it seem like they have something in Taylor “Cold One” Heinicke?

This is the most confident-looking Chargers team since the days of Boss Ross.

Happy for Jamies Winston…and if Aaron Rodgers looks the way he did against the Saints…He should re-apply for the Jeopardy gig.

I saw Texas versus Arkansas…and I had this great “Sarkansas” line already to go…and then, 40-21 happened.

Watching Oregon versus Ohio State was like watching a football game from low Earth orbit…Could the default/standard view have been any further away? It was like watching game film on Hudl.

Oh, and I have always been a CJ Verdell fan!

The Ducks victory left me with one thought…how good is Fresno State?

Given UCLA’s victory over LSU and Oregon’s victory in Columbus…Clay Helton couldn’t have picked a worse time to have his USC Trojans’ butt-kicked—at home—by Stanford (who lost to Kansas State the week before).

The #FireDaveRoberts crowd needs to zero in on a new target. I won’t say who it is—my lips are sealed—but his initials are CH.

The saddest sound in the world? The USC band playing “Fight On” with the Trojans trailing 42-13 to start the fourth quarter.

“Show me your 4s!”

TOP Four College Playoff Teams
(Strictly Based on Games I’ve seen)
1—UCLA (2-0): Earned a week off, but shouldn’t take F-No lightly.
2—Oregon (2-0): Physical and fast. Did you know QB Anthony Brown is experienced? Heard that about 50-times on Saturday.
3—Penn State (2-0): No let down against Ball State.
4—Ohio State (1-1): Stuff happens. You were playing the PAC 12, who would’ve thunk?

(Outside Looking In)
5—Stanford (1-1): Get Tanner McKee’s Heisman campaign revved up.
6—Arkansas (2-0): Do you really believe in the Razorbacks? I don’t.
7—Wisconsin (1-1): The Badgers showed Eastern Michigan who’s boss.
8—LSU (1-1): Beating McNeese State (34-7) had to help.
9—Minnesota (1-1): Beat Miami-Ohio (31-26). Gearing up for 2022.
10—USC (1-1): “Farewell and adieu to you sweet Helton Trojans. Farewell and adieu you sweet lads of Troy.”
11—Texas (1-1): Hudson Card is a great name for a QB, but a kid named “Card” should know how to deal.
